Today we will take a look at TP-Link TL-PA211KIT which is ethernet over a powerline adapter from TP-Link. What does this mean? It makes it possible to use powerlines to carry your ethernet and therefore making networking houses without CAT-cabling very easy. Let’s take a look how well it performs in our tests.

TP-Link TL-PA211KIT comes in a greenish cardboard box.  The face of the package has pictures of the units while the backside has information and the main specifications of it.

Inside the cardboard box we find two pieces of adapters, two ethernet cables, and manuals. TL-PA211 is completely driver-free and transparent for your computer so driver-cd is not bundled with it.

    I have had some experience with PLMs in the past, and can give a few hints for connectivity/throughput. 

    UPS’s – avoid plugging PLM’s into these.
    Surge strips/protectors – avoid plugging PLM’s into these. 
    Separate Phases – try to avoid this.
    Extension cords of any kind – try to avoid these.
    Outlet “splitters” – avoid these. 

    Basically, always plug directly into the wall outlets. any sort of bypass/passthrough will hinder or completely negate connections. these units can be extremely positive, if used properly, in my experience.
