Testing and conclusion

Testing:

We used following setup in order to test the power supplys:

AMD Phenom 9500 @ 2.8GHz TLB bug disabled
2x2GB DDR800
Asus M3A motherboard
4x640GB Hard disks (Samsung 7200rpm)
Ati Radeon 3870 X2 graphic card

Following graph shows us voltage lines in load and idle.

Nexus Value 430 & RX-8500 review

Voltage lines in both supplys were very solid and I was suprised that i could stress the Value 430 even with 600W without the supply shutting down. With RX-8500 I could stress with 950W without any problems. I couldn't load more than 950W with my current test bench (artificial load) so I couldn't test how much the RX-8500 could provide. Both Value 430 and RX-8500 were very silent with decent loads and in idle mode, but under high load both supplys noiselevels raised quite a bit. Voltages were measured using multimeter.

Conclusion:

I was very suprised to see the performance of both Value 430 and RX-8500. Yet having cheapish prices for the performance they offer, they were rock solid in our tests. Both supplies were provided to us without power cords, which is quite disappointing since it wouldn't raise the price of the product much, yet  it would come handy in some situations. Value 430 lacked easy-to-remove molex connectors, but RX-8500 had them. That was something to be expected from the products considering their pricing. I could recommend Value 430 to everyone who is building a basic home computer and RX-8500 to even the highest end machines.

Pros:
+ Well packed
+ Good performance
+ Solid rails

Cons:
- No power cords
