Introduction & Value 430

Quiet yet powerful powersupplys are the keywords in todays computer market. Finding the right one for you might be a bit hard. Nexus provided us with two of their latest models, Value 430 which is 430W and more than enough for basic computer and RX-8500 which is 850W for high end computers. Let's find out if they are worth the value.

About Nexustek:

Nexus Technology BV was established in 2000 by a group of experts on heat conductivity and noise reduction in the computer industry. The founders have build up an in depth knowledge and experience on heat conductivity issues and thermal characteristics by working closely with many of the larger pc manufacturers for several years. The idea to have a full line of high quality computer components to improve the working environment by reducing noise levels brought the founders together. Continuously developing products to reduce noise levels and consequentially improve heat conductivity and airflow.

Our goal: Building a strong and reliable trademark for silent computing.

Value 430 came in brown cardboard packet. Nexus advertises the packet being eco-friendly. Front side of the packet shows us basic information about the PSU including below 15.5dBa noiselevel and over 80% efficiency. Inside the packet we see the powersupply itself. However what we can see rightaway is that Nexus has decided not to include power cord with the power supply. I asked from Nexus if it was just our test unit which was lacking the power cord and their answer was "Because almost everyone have those power cords, we decided not to include one with our power supplies as it cuts down the cost of the product yet being environmental friendly at the same time".

The power supply itself is very basic looking. It has 1 - 21" cable w/ ATX 20+4-pin motherboard connector, 1 - 18" cable w/ Aux 12V 4+4-pin connector. 1 - 21" cable w/ 6+2-pin PCI-Express connector. 1 - 21" cable w/ 6-pin PCI-Express connector, 2 - 29" cable w/ 2x SATA connectors, 1 - 33" cable w/ 3x 4-pin Molex and 1x floppy connector and 1 - 27" cable w/ 3x 4-pin Molex connectors, which should be more than enough for basic computer use. Value 430 provides us 24A at 3.3V, 24A at 5V and 20A on each four +12V line. These should also be more than enough for even high-end graphic cards and couple hard drives bumped together. Molex-connectors are also the basic style. I would have liked to see the easy-removal ones, since I think it would not have made the power supply to cost much more.
