The NZXT Performance Power PP800 PSU arrived in a nicely decorated cardboard box with a large picture of the unit on the front and sides. The back of the package described the features and output rating of the PSU.
Opening up the package, we find the power supply securely packaged in a bubble-wrapped outer sleeve. As you can see, when we remove the supply, we find that the cables are attached to the supply; in other words, this is not a modular power supply. Along with the supply itself, the package comes simply with a power cord and a set of screws.
Unwrapping the power supply from the bubblewrap, the first thing that caught my eye was the nice black matte finish on the supply. Even the power supply’s 120mm fan has a black finish, which gives the entire unit a sleeker look.
Taking a closer look at the PSU, there are two cooling fans on the supply. The smaller one, located on the rear of the supply, is an 80mm fan. There is also a larger 120mm cooling fan on the bottom of the supply. The rear of the power supply has a 110/220V switch and the standard on/off switch. The side panel lists the various rail outputs, with the 3.3V rail rated at 24A, the 5V rated at 32A, and the quad 12V rails rated at 18/18/20/22A individually. Obviously, quad rails are nice, giving the unit a more stable power distribution profile.
Looking at the cables, this power supply comes with pretty much all that you could possibly need for a computer build and are all of high quality. Of note, there are 6 SATA cables, 8 multi-use 4-pin connectors, and support for an SLI graphics card. All of the cables are overwrapped with a mesh fabric providing protection from cutting due to sharp case edges. I like how the connectors are labeled for easy installation.
