The Evercool Hermesa Notebook cooler arrived in a clear plastic box with a nice view of the cooler on the front. The back of the package has a detailed list of features and specifications. As noted in the specifications, this particular cooler is designed for smaller notebooks, ranging from 7” to 15.4”.

Removing the cooler from the package, we find a cooler in the shape very similar to a bat. There are two 70mm fans that provide the airflow for the cooler offset slightly from the middle of the cooler. The cooler is very lightweight and can easily fit inside a laptop bag.

Looking at the back of the cooler, we find two adjustable foot pegs and a USB cable that provides power. The cable/connector is housed easily inside the cooler providing convenient storage. The adjustable feet give you an option of two different heights

Unfortunately, the Hermes doesn’t come with a power switch to turn off the fans, which was a little surprising to me. Another feature that is absent from this cooler is additional USB expansion ports built into the cooler itself, which is a handy feature especially but would likely drive the price upwards.

As expected, there is no installation involved in this cooler; simply set it on the table and plunk your notebook onto of it. Unfortunately, this is where you find what I thought was the greatest fault/issue with the cooler; it simply is too small for any larger sized notebooks, over say 11”. I tested it out on a 14” notebook, and the notebook felt unstable and moved around a lot when typing on the keyboard. I was glad that the notebook provided quiet operations and a decent amount of airflow.

Conclusion:
The Evercool Hermes Notebook cooler is a tale of two cities in many ways. On the one side, it is very small and lightweight and fits quite well into a laptop bag. But its small size makes it unstable for even medium-sized notebooks. If you’re looking for a light and small cooler to go with your small notebook, you might want to give this little guy a try.

Pros:
+ Lightweight cooler
+ Two separate height adjustments
+ Small form factor
+ Decent airflow with quiet operations

Cons:
- Doesn’t provide a stable base for medium-sized or larger notebooks
- No off-switch
