Noctua NF-P14 FLX 140mm Fan

Noctua, being well known for their quiet, but very effective CPU coolers, knows how to build quiet and effective fans. Continuing the trend to larger and larger fans, Noctua’s latest fan is of 140mm dimension. The nice thing about this fan is that it has mounting holes for both 140mm and 120mm, so it is backwards compatible.

They have different colors and specifications but they all do the same thing in the end and that is to controll the fans. Tonite we are having a look at a fan controller that fits in a floppy drive bay so this is a tiny one but still has the specifications as the bigger Vantec controllers. It has been quiet on the thermal paste front for awhile after Arctic Silver 5 was released. Now though we have a new contender on the market from Coolermaster with their Nanofusion. They are here now to also get into the thermal paste market. Coolermaster has in the past made thermal paste which performed decent but not as good as the AC5, therefore we have decided to compare this new Nanofusion paste to Arctic Silver 5 and Arctic Silver Ceramique which are two well performing thermal pastes on the market.

Evercool HPC-925

Today the use of aircoolers in most cases heat pipes to help transfer away the heat faster from the bottom of the cooler to the top that the CPU generates; Or they look and work like the HPC-925 that we are reviewing today. This is the first time I have ever touched on a CPU cooler that uses heat pipes, I would say that this cooler looks a bit scary since it doesn't have any material like copper or aluminum between the base and the top of it, don't you agree? Well, I think that we can trust on Evercool anyway that this thing will do its job. :) Have fun!

As our harddrives get faster and faster we need better cooling on the harddrives of course. Vantec has just released their new SATA EZ swap harddrive holder and cooler. It's basically a harddrive rack with some new features as LCD display and SATA etc. We will see how this can perform with a brand new 300 Gb 16mb SATA drive and also how it can cool the drive down.

Another fan controller here at rbmods. It's fan controll testing day :) This one is a fan controller which you install into a floppy drive slot. It's very small but it's supposed to do it's job... but does it? It has two USB ports so you get support for two USB ports and 3 fans. Well let's get to it and show some pics.

With todays fast harddrives it's important to have good cooling on them, especially if you run them for a longer period of time. Evercool has a new product called HDAC which is a HDD cooler that we are going to take a look at this evening. It has a fan controller to control the speed on the fan and also a display that shows RPM and temperatures. We will be comparing it to just a standard harddrive temperature wise to see the difference.

This seems to be the nicest fan controller we have reviewed after having a quick look at it but will it be able to pass our testing on the test bench. Yes, tonite we have a fan controller here at Rbmods and it was sent to us by Superflower and it's called "Fanmaster". Today Im going to be reviewing the Vantec Vortex hard drive cooling system. Their have been many different hard drive coolers recently. They are being required more and more. The faster hard drives spin/work the more energy is lost to heat and as we all know heat can shorten the life of components.

Evercool was nice and sent us this Laptop cooler that is placed under the laptop itself. It's equipped with 4 fans so it should be able to cool the lappy down; but what will the consequences be? I have been a fan of artic silver for quite a long time. My first experience with artic sliver was with AS3, just applying it instead of standard generic goop decreased my temperatures by a significant amount.. I have been using the same tube of AS3 for well above a year now and it's still going strong.

This product seems to be something really well made and is great for overclockers that want a quiet computer sometimes. Right now we are having the hot period of the year and what can be more annoying than you sitting on a LAN and fragging people and then you just cannot stand it anymore but you have to run out to cool off or take a shower.... Well there is a solution- BUY A FAN!! well yes a fan might be clumsy and annoying to use so buy a USB fan instead :) just plug it into a USB port and push the on button and you get a cool breeze while you frag :) We are having a look at a USB fan tonite and we will see if it really can cool you off :)

They sent me a 3,5 Rheobus fan controler and a adapter gadget so you can use it in a 5,25 slot if you want to :) What is really neat with this is that it has leds that shine brighter the more the fan is turned on. In today�s world of computers the case fan is found in almost any PC out there. All these fans are usually a plain black color. If you have a modded or plexi case those fans really end up looking ugly and just sticking out. Thermaltake has helped us to solve this problem with their clear Blue-eye LED case fan. This is no regular case fan, it has 3 blue leds that shine constantly and one red led that shines during HDD activity. Lets check it out.

This is a new little gadget to me. Evercool sent us a product called extended cooling system which is supposed to keep the fans going after you turn off your computer to cool it down a bit more. Quote: The device will extend DC fan to operate for 5 additional minutes after computer shutdown". Does this work? Well thats what we are here to find out.

I feel that the component we don't really care much about is the harddrive. We try to cool the cpu,northbride and video card as much as possible. In extreme cases some poeple even cool the power supply with water. But what about the harddrive? Well I have personally noticed alot of issues with many of my harddrives. So this is where Coolermaster ones again comes into the game. They have released a so called Cooldrive 3 HD cooler. Is it just a way for the to make more money? Just another loud fan? Or is it really a necessary product? Well let's have a look and the decide about that....
