OCZ Evostream 600W PSU Review

If you visit this site frequently, the name OCZ should be familiar by now. Weve reviewed quite a few products from them in the past, everything from high performance RAM to CPU coolers to power supplies.Today well be looking at OCZs latest in their line of power supplies, the Evostream 600W PSU.Will it meet our high expectations for an OCZ product or fall short?Lets check it out.

About Ocz:

Entering the memory market in August 2000, OCZ Technology was built around the determination to manufacture the best high speed DDR and RDRAM. OCZ was founded by enthusiasts, for enthusiasts, and our commitment to the end-user has not digressed. OCZ Technology has been an innovator in many areas.

We were the first manufacturer to make Dual Channel optimized memory available to the public, which originally took advantage of nVidia's Twinbank or Dual DDR architecture, found in their nForce chipset. We have now taken that technology and tailored it for the Canterwood, and Granite Bay chipset's. OCZ developed and was the first to implement ULN technology, which has been a critical element in our manufacturing process for some time.We at OCZ diligently work to improve communication with CPU and motherboard chipset manufacturers prior to the release of their products. Only in this manner can we fine-tune our memory's SPD settings, ensuring a synergistic relationship between the memory module, memory controller, and microprocessor. In todays rapidly evolving semiconductor industry, such communication is not simply research, but a necessary component of our manufacturing process.

Opening up the package, you first find another smaller box that contains the modular cables that allow you to customize your PSU cable setup.Removing the box of cables, you find the PSU snuggly secured between two pieces of customized foam. There is also a small instruction manual included with the product.

Taking a closer look at the cables, the first thing I noticed was their blue-colored jackets, which are actually UV sensitive to add extra flair to the inside of your computer. The only downside with this jacketing is that it makes the cables slightly stiffer and harder to bend. However, they arent too stiff, and I was able to route the cables where I needed to without any concerns. The cable wiring is also heat-shrinked on the end to add a nice finishing touch. The PSU comes with a full compliment of cables (see the specs list), include 2 PCI-E connectors which means that the PSU will support multi-GPU builds.
