This is a new little gadget to me. Evercool sent us a product called extended cooling system which is supposed to keep the fans going after you turn off your computer to cool it down a bit more. Quote: The device will extend DC fan to operate for 5 additional minutes after computer shutdown". Does this work? Well thats what we are here to find out.

Specifications:
� LED Will be "green" when the computer is on.
� LED Will be "red" when the computer is off.
� This device is connected to the 5V connector from the power supply of the computer. Due to this, the RPM of the cooling fan will be slightly slower than usual.
� Being connected to 5V of the power supply. The device will extend DC fan to operate for 5 additional minutes after computer shutdown.
� Unlike conventional cooler that will shut off once the computer has been turned off , this device will further reduce CPU temperature.
� Please make sure that all the cable and joints are properly connected.

The product came very well packed and on the back I fond some installation instructions even though the product explains itself by just looking at it.

With this ECS product you also get a ATX cable that is connected between the motherboard connector and the ATX cable from the power supply. We also have a two fan cable that are connected between the motherboard connectors and the ECS controller. Please click on thumbnails to get bigger pictures
On the left picture we have the side on the controller where you connect the 2 pin connector from the ATX cable that is included and we also connected the fan cable that goes from the motherboard to the controller. On the right pic we have the 2 fan connectors where you connect the fans.
Testing:
Does this work? Yes, the fans keep running for 5 min when the computer is turned off. Is this a neccessity? I don't really feel it's something that is needed since after the computer is turned off it cools down anyways so I feel personally that you can put money on something else and it would be better spent. The product works though, and does what it's supposed to do.
Conclusion:
I don't know what to really say more than this product does what it's supposed to do. I feel that your money would be better spent on anything other than this. However, for people that are really afraid that their computer runs hot this product might help and give them reassurance. There was a lack of documentation as they only had some insctructions on the back of the package. All in all we give this 3 out of 5 for a product that does what it's supposed to do.
