This mediaplayer itself is colored in full black. The front side of the product has a powerbutton and display to give you information about the video you're watching. On the left side there is a secure digital memorycard slot and one USB-slot for external hard drive or USB-memory stick.
On the mediaplayer is the Icybox mediaplayer text branded in it. The most interesting part however is the backpanel and the amount of connectors it offers. IB-MP305A-B is capable of providing video output in three ways which are; Composite, component and HDMI. HDMI is undoubtedly the best in terms of video quality, then component and last composite. There is also another USB-host port behind the unit and SPDIF audio output. RJ-45 Ethernet connector allows you to plug the unit to your home network giving you full access to your network shares.
We decided to take a look inside the mediaplayer as we want to know how the IB-MP305A-B is possible in decoding 1080p material which requires huge amounts of calculating power. As you can see there is lots of empty space inside the casing. IB-MP305A-B uses RTD1073DD chip to decode videos and audio. It is a media decoder chip made by Realtek. Other than that the PCB has RAM-chip and one one flashmemory chip for operating system. More information about the RTD1073DD chip can be found in Realteks site.
Before testing the product we decided to have a look on the remote control. It is compact in size and has 21 buttons in it. All buttons have text in it for the function they're supposed to do. The remote control works with a single CR2032 battery
