The wheel itself has a diameter of 11”. It has a leather wrap that’s easy on the eyes and very comfortable. Some of the improvements over the G27 appear on the wheel itself. The first can be noticed on face of the wheel: the six buttons which replace the two on the G25 wheel as well as the new RPM/shift indicator LEDs. Also, the paddle shifters are bigger and also require less travel for engagement. Finally, the update to helical gears rounds out the improvements to the wheel.

Clamping the steering wheel to the desk is very simple. There are two round screws that pop up from the steering wheel itself. These screws are used to slide the clamps on the underside of the wheel up or down, thereby clamping the wheel to the desk.

On the underside of the wheel is where the other two pieces, as well as the power adaptor connect. Besides the power, each wire uses a DB9 connector, and are of opposing gender to eliminate plugging them into the incorrect port. The wheel connects to the to computer via a molded in USB cable. This can create a rat’s nest of wiring. In future releases, Logitech may think about using USB for all three devices and implementing a USB hub inside the steering wheel to allow users to decide if they want to plug all three devices in to the computer separately, or into the steering wheel.
