Closer Look and Installation

The Fan Controller:

Outside of the box, the fan controller is simply a blank screen next to a plastic knob.  The faceplate is plastic, too, but the body is made of steel.

The back of the device is the business end.  This is where all the fans, temperature sensors, and power connectors attach to the equipment.  On the left there is room for four fan connections, but multiple fans can be added to each channel if necessary.  The four temperature sensors connect via a single plug, which makes attaching them simpler, but adds clutter to the case if you don't intend on using them all.  On the right there is room for a molex plug, and the connection to the power brick resides here as well.  I wish that the fan controller could be powered directly from the brick, since the the molex cable only adds more clutter to the case.

Installation:

First step:  slide the controller into an available 5.25" drive bay and secure it using whatever system your case provides.  I prefer to use screws.

Next thing to do will be to add the expansion bracket by screwing it on to the case.  It is okay to do this step out of order if necessary.

Then, just plug in all the necessary power, fan, and probe cables.  Place the probes with the included tape while you're at it.  I mocked-up this step outside of the case, since it makes for better pictures.

The fan connections are standard 3-pin and 4-pin, and can get easily cluttered if you don't watch out.  I recommend taking a few extra minutes, if you have them, to hide away those extra cables so they don't get in the way of fans.  Besides, cable mess is ugly!

Now you can close up your case.  The last step in the installation process is installing the power brick.  Just plug your power cable into the brick, and lead the brick's cable directly to the PSU.  Plug in the USB header into the bracket, and all that is left is to power up the case!
