Introduction

Today we conclude our look at the new SteelSeries SteelSound headsets with a review of the SteelSound 4H headset.Weve been impressed so far with the quality and comfort of the two other headsets recently reviewed, the 3H and the 5H v2.Will this headset suffer from being the middle child syndrome?Lets find out.

The SteelSound 4H headset came in a colorful package clearly displaying the headset in the front. The back of the headset provided a list of features/specifications in multiple languages.

Opening the package, the headset can be found secured to the molded cardboard container. The package simply contains the headset along with some information about SteelSeries other product offerings. As with the other headsets, I was a little disappointed that no carrying case or bag is provided.

Taking a closer look, the headset is quite a big larger than the 3H and almost as big as the 5H v2.However, unlike those two, the 4H cant be compacted for travel. The headset has oversized ear pieces that actually fit over your ears, which adds to the comfort and improves the sound isolation qualities. The headband has generous padding to further increase the comfort.

The headset cord is a little less than 2 meters long, which should provide plenty of length for most applications.Thankfully, the on-cord remote control is included, providing easy access to volume control and three levels of microphone amplification (off, low, and high). While the headset cord seems fairly durable, it lacks the heavier jacketing that was found on the 3H and 5H; Im not sure why they decided on this design for this particular headset.
