Core i7 920 Features

Today we are going to take a look at another Core i7 processor from Intel. We got ourselves a 920 to play around with and use in our test system. Comparisons will be between this and the new AMD Phenom 2 955 which is the fastest AMD processor on the market right now. We are going to see what type of performance we can get from this unit that is supposed to be taken out of the Intel inventory to make room for cheaper units named Core i5.

This processor does not look any different than the others except on the bottom, although its well marked so installation is not a problem. Lets get on with the testing to see what can be expected from this unit.

Coolermaster M700 PSU

Testing was done with Sisoft Sandra 2009, Pcmark Vantage, SuperPi, Winrar and overclocking was done through bios by changing voltages and bus speed.

The Core i7 965 extreme is ONLY included to show you the performance you can get with a cpu that cost 3 times the money that a 920 cost. Hwere we can see that the Phenom does not have a chance in this first test.
