Buffalo WHR-G300N V2 + WLI-UC-G450

Wireless networks have progressed very fast in the past few years. Remember the days when WLAN peaked at 11mbps speeds? Today we will take a look at two WLAN products from Buffalotech. First there is the access point / router called WHR-G300N V2 which peaks at 300mbps speeds and then a USB adapter called WLI-UC-G450 which peaks at 450mbps. Read the whole review to find out more!

The Product:

Buffalo WHR-G300N V2 + WLI-UC-G450

Both units (WHR-G300N V2 and WLI-UC-G450) come in a red colored cardboard boxes. WHR-G300N V2 can act as an access point, VPN-server, gateway or router (or all of them together). These are quite common features found in many access point/routers. The WLI-UC-G450 is a traditional USB-slotted wlan dongle which is capable of 450Mbps speeds.

Inside the WHR-G300N V2 box we find the actual router, utility/driver-cd, short CAT5-cable, power supply, stand, couple screws and a quick setup guide. This is all you need to successfully setup a working wirelessa lan in your home/office.

Let’s take a look at the actual unit. The front side has five leds and an airstation text. There are separete leds for diagnostics, router mode, wireless activity, security and power. The unit itself is colored in black and is made from plastic.

To give you a clearer look of the unit, here’s another shot from the leds. As you can see the plastic is piano black and mirrors quite well. Personally, I’d have preferred matte coating, but I know many of you like glossy coated units.

  1. i´m totaly unsatisfied with this junk. i can get a connection to my android devices, but i am not able to upload any data.

    when i try to upload it really seems to work, it is also shown that files getting uploadet, but in the end nothing is on my hard drive. an data stored over usb also don´t get shown.
    The support of raidsonic is also sh*** to reques i have made, but no answer.
    there are better ways to thorw out money
