Asus EN8800GTS 320Mb Videocard

Introduction

Most of us know that Cebit is going on and new videocards are probably shown there, the 8800GTS is still fairly new and it looks like it might be a excellent choice for most consumers if you look at price and performance. We are going to test this card vs some older high performers to see how it really does perform.

With the card you get a full version of Ghost Recon, which is what I think gave the theme for the box also. You can see the ASUS logo on the left and a military dude on the right of the box. On the back you can read about the card in several different languages.

So what did I find inside the box except the card itself? Well there are several cds. For example we have a Asus Driver cd, 3dmark2006, Ghost Recon, Asus Race and a Speed setup grahics card manual.

You also get some adapters, VGA>DVI, Molex to PCI-E Power and a S-video to RGB connectors. A nice bonus is a little cd holder where you can have all the cds you get with the card.

Notice the size of the card, if you don’t have plenty of space in your case you might not want to get this card, the cooler takes up one extra PCI slot and the length might make it so its hard to install ram with the card installed. If you look close the fan is actually a 80mm fan which might be a bit more quiet than the traditional 40 or 60 mm fans.

Remember to plug in the PCI-E power cable or the card either won’t work or you will get a very bad performance from the card.
