I“ve seen a bunch of Led fans in Psu“s you can buy but they are so expensive so i tought why not do one myself.
CAUTION THIS MOD WILL REMOVE THE WARRANTY OF THE PSU!! AND REMEMBER THAT THE PSU CAN STILL HAVE SOME ELECTRICITY IN IT EVEN AFTER A WEEK
Whats needed
Tweezers
Some tape
Soldering Iron
Led Fan
Well I started with picking the psu out and removing all the seals and screws.
This is how it looks like when you have removed the top cover
Here I found where the old fan is soldered to so I removed one cable at a time so I could solder the right cable from the Led fan to the right
place.
Led fan soldered on (use caution when doing this)
Here I stripped the cable and put some tape under the fan so it won't touch the psu casing.
Everything screwed back together again. And remember to see that no screws get left in the PSU after the job. You can try this by shaking the PSU a little.
AAAAAAAND ACTION! Well it works fine right away :) Now we just have to wait and see how long it will last. By the way I did this mod on my test computer first. So it might be good to try it on an old
Psu before starting with your nice and expensive Enermax PSU :)
Another picture that proves it's working. I took it with flash on purpose but you can still see its working great.
Time it took to make the mod?
Around 15 minutes Price?
The price of a led fan which is around 10-12$ here in Sweden Hard or easy?
Well I would not recommend a n00b to do this mod :) Remember that its electricity we are playing with.
I hope this mod was something you can do home to make your comp look cool. Remember do the safe thing before the unsafe :)
CAUTION THIS MOD WILL REMOVE THE WARRANTY OF THE PSU!! AND REMEMBER THAT THE PSU CAN STILL HAVE SOME ELECTRICITY IN IT EVEN AFTER A WEEK. RED&BLACKNESS MODS ARE NOT REPOSIBLE FOR ANY DAMAGE
DONE TO YOUR PSU OR YOU!!
