Zboard Merc

Zboard has gotten themselves on the map by making high quality gaming keyboards, which are like nobody else in the past. Gamers demand the most out of their keyboards and by having changeable layouts on them Zboard has been able to get big in the keyboard market since they have products for every gamer out there on the market. Now they have released something brand new, we got a sample in the mail called Merc, this is their new keyboard that both works as a normal and a gaming keyboard. How can that be? Well that is what we are here to figure out.

About Zboard:

It all began back in 1999 as Oren Kramer, an avid gamer, tried his hand - both hands, in fact - at mastering the tricky basic commands of StarCraft™, an extensive real-time strategy game. Oren was also an avid Quake™ player, an intense first person shooter game.
Suddenly, the proverbial light came on and in a moment of inspiration Oren asked himself three questions he would soon pursue the answers to . . . What if a gaming keyboard could be designed to let gamers execute complex maneuvers and a combination of movements with just a single easy keystroke? Could such a keyboard eliminate the need to memorize key commands and free gamers for the first time to focus all of their attention on action, strategy and ultimate victory? Would a keyboard dedicated to gaming action not make it easier and faster for gamers of all levels to master any game and maximize playing enjoyment? So began the Ideazon revolution. Oren went on to create the first Zboard and the rest is gaming history. The Zboard was the world's first gaming keyboard, an innovation that forever changed the way gamers connect with their favorite games. It cut down the learning curve to deliver a lethal competitive edge to core gamers, while helping casual players dramatically and immediately improve their play.

Zboard have even made their boxes that they ship the products in very attractive, you can even see on their website how well made it is and that they really put effort into showing of their products for the consumer. Inside the box you will of course (hopefully :) find a keyboard and also a manual and a driver cd. Install the drivers and software from the cd and you can setup all the keys and functions.

They keyboard has a red, grey, and black color scheme which are the "official" colors of Zboard. The keyboard is the size of a Microsoft Natural keyboard so its a bit bigger than a standard keyboard. The keys are divided into three different sections. You have the gaming part to the left on the keyboard with the red controller buttons and around it you have buttons to reload, jump, crouch, etc which are very essential for FPS gamers. You can set these buttons though to do different things so they will also work for MMPORG, role playing etc etc.

In the middle is the second section with the standard keyboard. On the far right you have the number pad with arrow keys mounted below the numb pad. You will have to push down the Num lock key to get the numbers to work on the number pad otherwise they have different keys assigned to them. Why is this? To save space they have combined the number keys and the delete, page down, page up buttons that are usually mounted over the arrow keys.
