Zalman Zm600-HP Powersupply
With todays more demanding computers manufacturers have to figure out how to make more and more powerful powersupplies. On top of that they have to perform extremely well with stable rails and also be extremely quiet for the consumer to be happy with them, this really proves to be a challenge to the manufacturers as the PSU usually tends to lack in on thing. It's usually noise or unstable rails that tend to mess it up. Today we got Zalmans latest creation the ZM600-HP on our test bench and we are here to see how well this power supply from the masters of silence can perform!
About Zalman:
"We are thankful to those of you who have purchased our Noise Prevention products and computers, as well as to all of you who are visiting our website. If we fully utilize computers' many functions such as communications, office productivity, and multimedia, our life can become more comfortable and enriching.

In order for this to be achieved, the computer must first become more user-friendly.
Despite the fact that computers have become commonplace at home and at workplaces for a long time, true user-friendliness of the computers is still a long shot.
At Zalman Tech, we strive to make that goal a closer reality through extensive research and development of our products. We were the world's first in reducing computer noise down to lower than 20dB, thus creating a more user-friendly computing environment. Now it is possible to use a computer without distracting noise and to form high fidelity audio system or home theatre system without ambient noise.
Zalman Tech will continue to make efforts at creating more enhanced levels of user-friendliness in computing; we believe that we have the ability and determination to achieve this goal. Your support and interest are greatly appreciated."

This new heatpipe cooler powersupply looks like a cool new gadget, it will be interesting to see if the heatpipe actually does any difference to noise and stability. This product comes packed in a cardboard box with a picture of the product on the front. On the back of the box you can read some features and specifications.

Inside the box you have the powersupply of course and a few accessories. You get a power cable, manual, and the multi fan adapter called ZM-MC1 which is a mutli fan adapter released by Zalman.
Since this is a modular powersupply you have to plug in your power cables, the positive things about a modular powersupply is that you can choose which cables you need and this saves space and also increases airflow through the case. If you have a plexi window you will also find it that you have a much nicer looking case with less cables.

The main power cables are mounted in the PSU already these are not removable as we can see on the left picture.
Zalman has put them together with a velcro tie to keep them together in the box. This unit actually has four 12V rails that actually all run at 16A. The 3.3V and 5V both run at 24A which is not bad at all, the question is though how stable the rails actually are.
