Zalman Zm460b-aps Power supply
It's time for a power supply review again and this time we take a look at a new product from Zalman called Zm460b-aps that is a newer version of the older Zm460-aps that we reviewed a while back. We are going to compare this power supply vs the older version to see how it performs. In these days people are looking for quiet power supplies and ones that can still perform and therefore there are several good ones out there but there are differences with the best ones to so might this be a winner? That is something that we will look at today.
About Zalman:
"We are thankful to those of you who have purchased our Noise Prevention products and computers, as well as to all of you who are visiting our website. If we fully utilize computers' many functions such as communications, office productivity, and multimedia, our life can become more comfortable and enriching. In order for this to be achieved, the computer must first become more user-friendly.
|
|
Despite the fact that computers have become commonplace at home and at workplaces for a long time, true user-friendliness of the computers is still a long shot. At Zalman Tech, we strive to make that goal a closer reality through extensive research and development of our products. We were the world's first in reducing computer noise down to lower than 20dB, thus creating a more user-friendly computing environment. Now it is possible to use a computer without distracting noise and to form high fidelity audio system or home theatre system without ambient noise.
Zalman Tech will continue to make efforts at creating more enhanced levels of user-friendliness in computing; we believe that we have the ability and determination to achieve this goal. Your support and interest are greatly appreciated."

The package is similar to the older power supply and you can see a picture of the unit in the box and you also find some features that it holds.
When you open up the box you will find the manual on the top and some velcro ties to keep the cables in control. The power supply itself is packed in bubble wrap to protect it from scratches and dents.

So it's time to take a look at the accessories included with the unit. You will get a power cable, manual, velcro ties, a Zalman multi connector, and a few screws. The unit itself has a black color and as we can see the cables are all sleeved to keep the cables under control and to increase the airflow within the case.

Zalman has a normal mounted "honey comb" grill in the back to vent out the air out of the power supply. As we can see there are two 12v rails with 16 and 18A. The 5V has a whole 30A coming out of it while the 3.3V also has 30A. The specifications look great but what about stability and heat issues?
