Zalman Zm460-aps power supply
We got a few silent products from Zalman a few days ago and we will start with taking a look at a power supply from them.
They sent us a sample of their new ZM460-APS power supply that is supposed to be extremely quiet and still performs well.
Alot of people don't think it matters what power supply you have but it's actually the opposite, with the new video cards and processors out on the market they demand more power than a generic power supply can push out. We will compare this one to some other well performing power supplies on the market and see if we might have a new winner on our hands when it comes to performance and noise.

Specifications:
CNPS (Computer Noise Prevention System) with Auto Control Cooling Fan
By implementing heat-sensor circuitry that controls the cooling fan's speed (rpm) in relation to the temperature within the power supply, noise has been greatly reduced. CNPS (Computer Noise Prevention System) refers to a system that reduces a conventional computer's noise (30dB or more) to an inaudible level (20dB or less). In order to create a true noise-free computer, Zalman's other noise-free products should be used together with this product.
Improving Power Factor & Eliminating Harmonics through Active PFC
By implementing Active PFC, the power factor (PF) is improved from 75% (Passive PFC) to 96% (230VAC, Full load), while harmful harmonic frequencies are reduced below regulatory requirements.
High Efficiency Design
Designed with a high switching frequency and low power-loss circuitry, the efficiency of this product exceeds 80% (230VAC, Full load).
ATX "20+4"-Pin Main Connector
ATX "20+4"-Pin main connector broadens mainboard compatibility.
ATX12V CPU (4-Pin) & EPS12V CPU (8-Pin) Connectors
Use two ATX12V 2 (4-pin) connectors together to form an EPS12V CPU connector (8-pin).
PCI Express Graphic Card Power Connector(6-Pin)
PCI-Express graphics card power connector is provided to high-end graphics card support.
EZ Grip Connectors for ODD & HDD
EZ Grip Connectors for ODD & HDD for easy connecting and disconnecting of the plugs.
Dual +12VDC Output
Two +12VDC rails output up to 30A combined, providing more stable power to high-end systems.

This product was extremely well packed in a thick cardboard box which prevented any damage on the unit itself.
Included with this PSU is also a power cord, fan controller, extra SATA power connectors, PCIE/SLI power converter, velcro straps, manual.

The power supply itself comes in a nice black color with black sleeving on the cables.
On the bottom they have mounted a 120 mm fan to cool of the unit with and ventilate the air out.
We can already see that this is not a modular power supply which I find funny as pretty much all other manufacturers go for the modular style
but if this car perform well I guess people would choose this anyways.
