Zalman VF700-Cu

Today we are looking at a very cool designed GPU cooler from Zalman, the name of that cooler is VF700-Cu. Today I will also try to pick a winner between this cooler and the Arctic NV Silencer 5, it has been a big debate between these two coolers for a long time now in the forums I'm currently active in. Well, shall we begin!?

About Zalman:

We, Zalman Tech Co., Ltd., are thankful to those of you who have bought our Noise Prevention products and computers, as well as all the netizens who are visiting our website. It is a pleasure to serve you. If we were to fully utilize computers' many functions such as communications, office productivity, and multimedia, our life will be much more comfortable and enriched. But if that were to be achieved, the computer must first become more user friendly. Despite the fact that computers have become commonplace at home and at workplaces for a long time, true user friendliness of the computers are still a long shot. At Zalman Tech, we strive to make that goal a closer reality through extensive research and development of our products. We were the world first in reducing computer's noise down to lower than 20dB, thus creating a more user friendly computing environment. Now you can use a computer without distracting noise and also form high fidelity audio system or home theatre without ambient noise with one. Zalman Tech will continue to put efforts to creating more enhanced levels of user friendliness in computing; we believe we have sufficient ability and determination. Your support and interest is greatly appreciated.

The cooler comes in this see through plastic wrapping, it's always much funnier to see what you're actually buying. :) Well, you have the blue memory heatsinks to the right, the cooler itself in the middle, and a little box at the bottom with the bolts, manual etc. On the back we have some specifications, features etc printed.

The package includes all necessary bolts you need for the installation of the cooler including thermal grease, a sticker, eight blue memory heatsinks with thermal tape under it, the VF700-Cu cooler, multiconnector and the user's manual. To the right we have a better view over the cooler, the cooler is made of 61 copper fins (I have double checked it!) which is tightened together with two bolts and two thick steal plates. The 80mm fan is mounted with screws into the mounting clip, which is fastened to the steal plates on each side.

The cooler has practically formed as a flower, in my opinion. It's a really cool design and a very smart one too because it really helps to "lift" up the cooler so you shouldn't have any problems with capacitors for example becouse of the size of the cooler. The base is very smooth but it isn't a mirror finish. Which you actually could believe before you have a really good look at it.

Zalman has chosen to send eight blue aluminium heatsinks with the VF700-Cu cooler. There's thermal tape under them and you have to peel off the blue plastic when you are going to install the heatsinks on your memory. On the second picture we have the bolts, nipples, rubber rings, thermal grease, the brace plate and the Zalman sticker. Let me just go over what bolts and nipples that are namned 'A' and 'B'. If we start from the top left, those are the nipple 'B' after them we have bolt 'A' and then bolt 'B'. At the second row just under the nipple 'B', we have the nipple 'A' model.

This is the Multi-connector I mentioned in the beginning, you can either choose to use 5V or 12V for the 80mm fan with this thing. Select one of the red & black 3pin male for 5V, or the yellow & black 3pin male connector for 12V. Well, you could actually use it for that 80mm fan on the VF700-Cu and for three other fans in your case.

Let's move on for the installation on the Radeon 9800SE! >>>>> Page 2

Thank you PCB.se & Zalman for making this review possible!
