Zalman Cnps8000 CPU Cooler

Zalman has once again released a new cpu cooler on the market, this time they have put their efforts into releasing a cooler that also fits in smaller cases like HTPC systems. They have made their new CNPS8000 as low as possible and you will see later in the review how low it really is. We know that Zalman has always made really well performing products and the question is that have they been able to combine performance with small size? In this review we will run a test vs the well performing Zalman CNPS9500 and vs one Swiftech cooler to see how well this new CNPS800 will actually perform vs other heavy weight coolers on the market.

About Zalman:

"We are thankful to those of you who have purchased our Noise Prevention products and computers, as well as to all of you who are visiting our website. If we fully utilize computers' many functions such as communications, office productivity, and multimedia, our life can become more comfortable and enriching. In order for this to be achieved, the computer must first become more user-friendly.

Despite the fact that computers have become commonplace at home and at workplaces for a long time, true user-friendliness of the computers is still a long shot. At Zalman Tech, we strive to make that goal a closer reality through extensive research and development of our products. We were the world's first in reducing computer noise down to lower than 20dB, thus creating a more user-friendly computing environment. Now it is possible to use a computer without distracting noise and to form high fidelity audio system or home theatre system without ambient noise. Zalman Tech will continue to make efforts at creating more enhanced levels of user-friendliness in computing; we believe that we have the ability and determination to achieve this goal. Your support and interest are greatly appreciated."

As all Zalman products they come very well packed. You can see a part of the cooler and you can read about features and specifications on the back of the box.

Inside the box you find a small fan controller that you connect between the fan plugin and the motherboard plugin, and by doing that you get a chance to control the fan speed of the fan and either run it very quiet or at a faster speed with a higher noise level. You also get a manual which describes how to mount this cooler on different socket types, and of course you get a small ziplock bag with mounting parts and thermal paste.

From the side we can see that this heatsink is made out of heatpipes and alot of small aluminum fins. The base is made out of copper though as copper has the best heat transfer qualities. Four copper heatpipes go from the core to the sides to transfer the heat to the fins instead so the fan can air out the hot air from the heatsink.
