XFX Geforce 7800GTX video card

These days most dream of the new 8800 Geforce cards, but few can afford to pay 600$ for a videocard. Therefore we decided to make a review again of the older 7800GTX card. Are you still able to get out good performance out of this card and is it really worth paying out the 180$ for a older videocard? Those are a few questions we will answer on tonights review.

XFX have for a longer period now had their boxes look like an "X" to stand out from the standard boxes on the market. On the front you have a nice picture and on the back you got specifications and general information about the card and the company.

Of course the card comes with some accessories and games to, I found there to be two S-video cables, one adapter and a couple of manuals also. There is also 4 cd´s included with this card, once includes drivers of course but you also get games like Farcry, X the threat just as few examples.

The card itself is quite big as we can see on the left picture. This might make it hard for you to install ram on your board depending on where the ram slots are mounted. It is equipped with a 40 mm fan, they tend to be quite loud but this is not bad at all I have to admit. It has a temperature sensor which changes the fan RPM to lower or higher depending on the temperature. You will need to connect a PCI-E power connector to the card for it to work correctly. If you don't have one on your PSU you can buy adapters.

The card is equipped with two DVI connectors and one S-video output so you can connect it for example to your TV. As we can see on the right picture the cooler is well mounted, as there are two big pieces of metal on the back to keep the cooler in place on the card.
