Vizo UFO USB Hub
Today Vizo has sent a hockey puck for review... no, not really. They have however sent a very odd looking USB Hub called the UFO. Featuring 4 USB2.0 ports with backwards compatibility as well as bus-power, the UFO seems like it may be turn out to be pretty useful. So, read on and find out.

The UFO is very simply packed, clear plastic casing allowing you to see almost the entire hub. On the back is a full list of product details and what's included with the hub.

The hub is fairly small in size, being no bigger than a hockey puck. After rotating the outer shell, the four USB 2.0, bus and self power ports are revealed. The four USB ports are backwards compatible so 1.1/2.0 will both work. The self power port will take a 5V/1A adapter which is not included with the hub itself. Having a power adapter probably won't be necessary as the Bus-Power port will divide up 500mA.

Since it's plug-n-play, absolutely no real installation is involved other than hooking the HUB up to a free USB2.0 port. Once that's hooked up, the red indicator LED will come on. After that just hook up any USB1.1/2.0 device, a green indicator LED will light up and your PC will read the device just as if it were hooked up directly.
For testing all I did was compare speeds when having a device hooked directly to my PC then connecting it through the UFO. Speeds remained unchanged, meaning transfers were not being restricted by the hub.
Conclusion:
The UFO will be a great choice for anyone looking to add more connectivity to their laptop or even home PC. Its small design and ability to draw its power from the bus port make the hub extremely portable.
