On the back we have some air vents and the USB port and the PS/2 port which powers the whole unit.
Inside we have a fairly quiet fan that cools of the harddrive when running.

Inside we also have a normal DMA cable for maximum transfer. On the right we have the unit running.
What I found was that I could not boot from this device. I set the start-up order so it would boot from it but it did not work.
Testing:
We tested this enclosure with a Maxtor UDMA133 8 mb cache and the testing was done with HDspeed.
With just a normal IDE connection we get a avarage of 56.6 mb/s and with the USB2 connection from the enclosure we got 1024kb/s which is alot lower
but that was expected as USB 2 is still slower than IDE.
Conclusion:
This is a nice addition to your home computing. It makes it easy to plug in new drives and you can even unplug the drive in action without disturbing the rest of the computer.
Even though we have alot slower transfer speeds with USB it is still nice speeds that it performs at for being a USB connection.
Overall the product feels high quality and in reality is. Included are the manuals and cables so you can just plug/play.
The harddrive fit perfectly into the enclosure and the cables were just about the right length for everything to fit into the tight space.
Overall we give this 4 out of 5 for a nice enclosure that is very high quality and performs okay for a USB connection.
Pros:
+ High quality
+ Has a vertical foot included
+ Well packed
+ Easy to use
+ Good manual
Cons:
- Speeds are very low compared to a IDE.
- Cannot boot on the drive when in enclosure.
