Thermaltake Matrix VX Case

Thermaltake sent us their new creation called the Matrix VX. This is a brand new case that is supposed to be very light. The weight without a power supply and parts is actually only 3.8kg which is very little compared to other cases. My question is what have they cut down on to be able to make the case so light weight, and that is what we will look into today and also to see what features it offers for the user.

About Thermaltake:

You can check up their company history over here.

The case was packed in a standard box from Thermaltake with a picture of the case and their logo on the outside. We see that the theme for this case is the actual weight of it as on the front of the case there is a hand that is balancing the case on one finger. You can get this product with our without side window or in black or silver. The case we got to try out is black with a plexi window.

The whole front is made into mesh so it takes in cool air into the case from the whole front. Behind the mesh front you have a dust filer to filter out "most" of the dust that comes into the case. On the front bottom they have mounted a 120 mm LED fan which should give a nice effect with this type of front.

In the top front part Thermaltake have placed Dual USB 2.0, IEEE 1394 Firewire, Audio & Speaker ports for your convinience so you dont have stretch back behind the case. They have also equipped the case with a 120 mm exhaust fan which I find a bit loud to be honest. Add a Zalman voltage controller to it and it works fine. To keep the cost down they have also left out the power supply as 95% of the manufacturers do these days. This gives you the choice to choose your own prefered power supply for your needs.
