Thermalright V1-Ultra GPU cooler

I'll be using the eVGA Geforce 6800 PCIe 256mb card to test out the V1-Ultra.

After stripping down the card and laying my parts out it's time to begin installation. Installing the thermal pad and ram heatsinks are simple enough, but when it comes to the bracket there's a little bit of tightening and loosening to get it right. After the bracket is positioned correctly, it's only a matter of applying thermal paste, sliding on the HS and finally tightening four screws. Overall the installation isn't too difficult, but can lead to a little backtracking.

From a “top/bottom” view, you can really tell how far the heatsink protrudes on both sides. Having to clear the ram sinks on one side, and hold a fan on the other. This may get in the way of some other components in your tower depending on your setup.

I ended up having to make room for the V1-Ultras fan by flipping my CPU cooler upside down. It is still a bit of a tight fit but it works... now we shall see if it was worth it.
Test System:
DFI Lanparty UT NF4 Ultra-D
AMD 64 3200+
2x512 DDR400
eVGA Geforce 6800 256mb
Seagate 120GB 7200rpm
Testing was done using several games and Nvidias built in temperature sensing.

The testing stands for itself. Even with the core overclocked to 400mhz, a 75mhz bump from stock, the V1-Ultra manages to maintain over a ten degrees lower temperature than the stock cooling while at stock speeds. Noise level was inaudible over northbridge fan.
Conclusion:
Temperatures don't lie. Even being as cumbersome as it is, performance wise there are no drawbacks. I was able to get more out of my graphics card than I could ever hope to get with stock cooling and without having to spend all the money on switching to water cooling.
If you want to try and squeeze the most out of your graphics card or just like things to stay cool, you should really look into Thermalrights V1-Ultra. Installation shouldn't really be any problem for anyone familiar with what they're doing, for a retail price of around 45$ USD it won't empty your wallet. I only suggest you take a look at your system to make sure you won't have any interference issues.
Pros:
+Cools Very well
+Not noticeably audible over other fans in system
+Ram Heatsinks
+Easy but can be time consuming installation
Cons:
-Does stick out a good bit on both the top and bottom which can cause issues
Red&Blackness gives it 4 out of 5 dots
