This is the included fan controller or control panel; well it has bunch of names. I got a silver with a blue display. To the upper left we have a button you can press on if you want the panel to show the degree's inside the NUUO power supply in centigrade or in fahrenheit. With the knob to the right you can steer the speed on the fans inside the power supply from low to high speed, or you can leave it on auto. In the right picture we have a picture on the back of the panel. The two 2pin connectors and the silver 3pin gets connected directly to the power supply, each cable is about 75cm long. The molex gets connected to a molex coming out from the power supply. The panel itself gets installed in one of your 3.5" drive bays.

To the left we have the panel in action and to the right we have a picture from the inside of the power supply, it looks pretty clean.

Idle voltages are taken when idling in Windows and we use both S&M v1.7 and 3DMark03 to find out the full load voltages. The results are compared with the ones with the Qtechnology QT-03400G power supply. Everything is measured with a multimeter.

Test Results:

3.3V:

Well, the Sunbeam NUUO 500W power supply overvolts a little, ~0.11V. Both power supply's was stable as a rock so I can't pick a winner.

5.0V:

No change here, almost identical results. Overvolts ~0.11V once again nothing to be worried about though. Great results!

12.0V:

Here we have a little bigger difference though. The Qtechnology dropped about a whole 0.1V and the Sunbeam NUUO 500W about 0.5V under full load. Both results are inside the limits anyhow but the Sunbeam NUUO 500W gets all the glory at this stage.

Conclusion:

Well well, I think this is a quiet nice power supply. It's stable, it's modular, it's sleeved, it looks great and even smells great when it's new. It's a cool feature with that little control panel that you can monitor the temperature inside the PSU and also steer the fans inside it. It's a bit weird though that they have sent with a control panel in silver when the PSU itself is black. I like that you can hook up a bunch of case fans on it too, one of the things I miss from my old Antec TruePower 480W. So how is the sound level on the power supply? I personaly think it's a little loud. I wish they could dump the 80mm fan inside the power supply. The OCZ Modstream or the Qtechnology PSU's we have tested doesn't seem to have any problems to have only one exhaust fan. Another thing that I think Sunbeam should have a look at is if it's possible to put the two floppy connectors on the molex cables since for example the DFi Lanparty NF4 motherboards needs both an extra 4pin molex and a floppy power cable connected to it if you're going to use the SLI feature on those motherboards. It's a bit hard to reach back to the floppy drive when the other floppy connector is connected to the motherboard. Well, I will give this power supply my recommendations and 5 of 5 possible stars. It totaly deserves it.

Pros:

+ Modular & nice paint job
+ Stable
+ Completly sleeved
+ Good user manual
+ Full of features like the control panel, bounce of 3pin connectors for case fans etc
+ Well packed

Cons:

- Would be fun with maybe other colors on the sleeving, than only black.

Red&Blackness gives it 5 out of 5 dots
