Spire Rocketeer III 500w Power Supply
With today’s computer users installing more power-hungry components yet paying more attention to noise, power supply manufacturers struggle with conflicting demands: offer power supplies with more power yet keep them cooler and quieter then ever. Spire, known also for its cooling products, has developed a line of power supplies that claim to deliver high performance with silent operations. Today, we’ll look at one of their power supplies, the Rocketeer III 500W PSU. Let’s see if the Rocketeer lives up to these claims.

By balancing the blades more efficiently, we are able to extend the life of the bearing and reduce the overall noise of the fan. This technique also allows us to increase the speed of fans without increasing the noise.

The Rocketeer III 500W power supply (PSU) arrived in a sturdy cardboard box with a large picture of the unit on the front. The back of the package described the features and output rating of the PSU, emphasizing its silent operations.

Opening up the package, the PSU can be found snugly wrapped in bubble wrap with the cables to one side of the package. Along with the power supply, the package contained four screws, a power cable, and some cable ties. The cable ties were a nice touch that is not typically found in many power supplies.
