Styx Gaming Mouse Review
Styx gaming mouse they say.... It was quite some time ago that I reviewed a mouse last, Razer, Logitech and Microsoft have been leading on that part of the market but today we might have an end to that!
We recieved a sample of Speedlinks latest Styx gaming mouse with some nice features as DPI setting with a button and also a ergonimiclly designed shape on the mouse. Let's have a closer look at this mouse and compared it vs some others we have looked in the past.

This mouse at a first glance looks alot like the Logitech G7 mouse I have had in the past. It looks a bit nicer though but tends to give you a plastic feeling just by looking at it.
The mouse comes packed in a very nice box that shows the product itself, on the back you can read about the features in various different languages.

The mouse has a nice black/grey and red color scheme that matches well together. You get a small manual that tells you how the mouse works and also a small cd with the drivers and software. On the cd you also have a manual in pdf format in case you lose it.
The left side of the mouse is shaped perfectly for your hand and you also have two thumb buttons that you can program do start programs or do various tasks. Right behind the button you got the DPI scale that shows at which DPI setting the mouse is set at for the moment. The cable on this mouse is sleeved which I find very nice since my cat tends to chew on cables at various times. Even though the cable is sleeved it is very flexible, even more flexible than my normal rubber cabled Razer mouse.

The wheel can be programmed to scroll vertical or horizontal and by pushing the F button in the middle of the mouse you can turn on 5 different colors on the wheel. This is a nice function as it gives the mouse something extra that others have not thought of yet.
The black parts where you actually put your hand is made out of some rubber material that actually gives you a good grip of the mouse. So far I think that the mouse actually fits my hand pretty good even though I have a smaller hand. I have read reviews that say otherwsie but personally I don't agree on that since I have used this for a few days and think it is quite comfortable, maybe since I am used to bigger mice though.

The bottom of the mouse is equipped with coated with glide feet to maximize the movement of the mouse. Gamers don't want anything resisting when gaming so the coated feet should work great on most mousepads.
The final picture shows a comparison picture vs the Razer Deathadder mouse, we can see that the Styx is a bit higher than the Deathadded but it is otherwise pretty much the same size.

The software included is easy to install and you will have a small icon down by your clock in windows. You can for example set the buttons to do various things, change pointes speeds, scrolling options etc. Pretty much the standard mouse settings in the control panel except a few minor things for this mouse.
Conclusion:
I have tested the mouse now both in games and during normal daily use. I am impressed with the sensitivity of the mouse, but I did have to turn the DPI up one notch to get it a bit more sensitive. I still can't get over the plastic feeling though, the Razer and Logitech mice have a quality feeling over them while this has plastic feeling. The mouse works great though and probably goes for a bit less than the big namebrands, you also have a cool little feature where you can switch the scroll wheel color. The mouse also has a sleeved cable which should give you a better glide on the cable than a rubber cable. Overall I am quite happy with the mouse and its features, it is a good mouse that will make less of a hole in your wallet than the namebrands.
Pros:
+ Allows to change DPI with a button
+ Well packed
+ Ergonomic
+ Sleeved cable
Cons:
- Not for left handed
- Plastic feeling
