Silverstone Nitrogon NT05 CPU Cooler Review

Today I’ll be reviewing the latest CPU cooler offering from Silverstone- the Nitrogon NT05 CPU Cooler. The NT05 cooler came well packaged in a sturdy box with pictures and detailed information. Much better than the clear plastic enclosures that many cooler come in. According to the packaging, the cooler has a spectacular performance to size ratio, with performance level surpassing larger CPU coolers.

Opening the box, the package contents were well secured in custom styrofoam inserts. The cooler module came with the fan control bracket, a mounting bracket for LGA775 installations, an allen key, two screws and springs, and an instruction manual. The NT05 also came with a generous amount (3.5g) of thermal paste (unknown manufacturer), packaged separately. For me, I like to install the thermal paste myself, but others may prefer the thermal paste to be pre-applied by the manufacturer.

The cooling module is made of copper base that interfaces with the CPU and a set of aluminum fins (63) and copper fins (43), connected by series copper heat-pipes. I was surprised by how lightweight the cooler was (308g); lighter than the stock AMD cooler. The copper base appeared to be machined-smooth and free of imperfections, and it came with a protective plastic sleeve. Unlike other coolers, the NT05 doesn’t come with any LEDs.
