The Rosewill RCX-Z3 cooler came in a sleek-looking black box with a simple Z3 logo on the front. The back and sides of the package offer the list of features and specifications for the cooler. You can tell just by the weight of the package that this is a substantial cooler.

Opening the box, you can see that the cooler and all the components are secured snuggly by custom cardboard inserts. Along with the cooler itself, the package came with a fan controller, cabling, thermal paste, a variety of adapters for the latest AMD and Intel processors, and a small instruction manual.

Taking a closer look at the cooler, my first impression is that this is a pretty big cooler, coming in at over 100mm. However, as long as your case can accommodate it, this large size shouldn’t be a problem. But if you have fans installed on the case like I do, the cooler’s height might interfere with them.

The heat sink is made of machine copper base that interfaces with the CPU and a set of fins connected by six copper heat-pipes, which is quite a few to fit in such a small package. The copper base appeared to be machined-smooth and free of imperfections, and it came with a protective plastic sleeve that we’ve come to expect with most coolers. Attached to the heat sink is a 92mm fan with a clear housing. As you can see, the fan is horizontally mounted, which should help promote heat dissipation around the fins and prevent blowing that hot air onto the CPU and other components of the motherboard.
