The PQI S721 microSD card + card reader arrived in a typical clear package that most flash memory products seem to come in. The product itself is prominently displayed on the front, and the back provides a list of additional specifications in multiple languages. The front of the package provides the most important specifications: the size (1GB). PQI also offers the S721 in a 2GB size.

What makes the S721 different from other microSD cards is that it comes with a handy USB adapter, which slides out of a protective (and colorful) outer casing. This allows you to connect the microSD card to any computer or USB compatible device without the need for a card reader; a very handy feature. The whole package is very small; less than the size of a quarter. There is a lanyard/string attached to the adapter that can help keep track of such a small item.

The card itself is very small as are all microSD cards. The card is very easy to remove from either adapter.
I tested out the microSD card in a variety of situations including an mp3 player, camera, and even in my Nintendo Wii with the SD adapter and had no issues whatsoever. The card was responsive and had performance similar to other SD cards. As advertised, the card is also Windows Vista ReadyBoost capable, which means that the microSD card can serve as extra memory cache to improve the computer’s performance without any additional memory.
Conclusion:
The PQI S721 microSD card + card reader offers solid performance in a tiny package. The addition of both the USB and SD adapter adds to the versatility of this product; no need to find a card reader. And the Windows ReadyBoost capability is an extra bonus. Overall, if you’re looking for a microSD card and want a convenient way to manage it, this product does the trick.
