Testing was done with the following software, SuperPi, Pcmark2005, Sisoft Sandra XI and Everest Home Edition.
The memory is compared vs OCZ Pc2 8000 memory kit.
Sisoft Sandra XI Single channel memory benchmark:
Just running one memory stick is not to interesting when you buy a dual channel kit, but this test kind of shows what the ram kit is capable of.
We can see here that the new kit is quite a bit faster both in reading and writing compared to the older kit.
Sisoft Sandra XI Dual channel memory benchmark:
Well this test is what you want to see I know, running the kits in dual channel really boost the performance of the memory kit.
This test clearly shows how much difference there actually is between a single memory stick and a dual channel one. It also shows that the new 8500 is quite a bit faster than the oler 8000 setup.
Overclocking results:
Overclocking was done with the included Windows software from MSI. We can see here on the chart that we were able to push up the ram to 240 FSB, the computer was not rock solid but that only due to the fact we did not have the possibilty to change Vcore more. As we can see a small overclock like we have done can change the SuperPi times quite a bit and that means that you will have way more performance from your computer if you are able to overclock it.
Conclusion:
This is a great memory kit in both stability and performance. The biggest flaw with these kits are the price, but I feel that the liftime warranty can justify the price a bit.
Overall though the kit has performed extremely well, the coolers on the ram have kept them cool and stable. Even under overclocking we had no stability issues except when we were not able to push out enough voltage to the kit. I don't think there is that much to say because the numbers speak for themselves really. Timing wise we were not able to run any lower timings than 5-5-5-14 on the motherboard we tested with, maybe a better board would give even better results.
