NU DDW-163 Dual layer DVD burner

Dual layer dvd burners are slowly getting more popular but the problem is that the media is still expensive. I was not able to get ahold of an empty dual layer dvd so we have done read testing and a few test burns with this product. If you are in the market for a new dvd burner you might want to pay extra attention.

Double Layer Recording:

The DDW163 supports 2.4 DVD+R double layer, which allows you to record up to 8.5GB on one single disc, which is approximately 4 hrs of DVD video quality and 16 hrs of VHS video quality for TV recording.

The product:

The product is very well packed and on the back of the box you can see the specifications in several different languages. On the front they have a picture of the burner itself and the NU logo.

So what is included with the burner? Well we have four small screws, audio cable, manual, and two cds with software. The burner itself looks alot like the other NU burners I have looked at but this one has a big button on the front which I personally think looks a bit ugly.

Remember to tighten the burner in the case with the screws. You have four holes on each side so it should fit pretty much any case. In the back you have to remember to jumper the product right so it's found by your computer.

Jumper the device either to master, slave or cable select. You also need to plug in the power cable and the IDE cable so your computer can find the device.
