Hard drive coolers are becoming more popular as users look to improving hard drive life and preventing the dreadful hard drive failure. As with CPU coolers, hard drive coolers range from being fairly simple to very complex. Today we’ll take a look at the Nexus Frisbee Hard Drive Cooler, which has a simple design yet claims it is silent and has excellent cooling performance. Read on to find out if they are true.
About Nexustek:
Nexus Technology BV was established in 2000 in the Netherlands by a group of experts on heat conductivity and noise reduction in the computer industry. The founders have build up an in depth knowledge and experience on heat conductivity issues and thermal characteristics by working closely with many of the larger pc manufacturers for several years.
The idea to have a full line of high quality computer components to improve the working environment by reducing noise levels brought the founders together. Continuously developing products to reduce noise levels and consequentially improve heat conductivity and airflow. Our goal:
Building a strong and reliable trademark for silent computing.

The Nexus Frisbee HDD cooler arrived in a Frisbee-like container shaped like the fan itself. The back of the package lists the features/specifications of the cooler and claims that the fan is inaudible. Surprisingly, this cooler very much resembled a previously reviewed Vizo Orbiter hard drive cooler.

Opening up the package, the cooler is easily extracted revealing its small size and simple design. We’ve seen other HDD coolers on the market that are enclosures, which are DVD-drive sized cases that surround the hard drive and fit into the 5.25” bay. As you can see by the pictures, this small cooler simply attaches to the bottom of the hard drive and flows air directly onto the hard drive. Along with the cooler, the package comes with 2 screws for attaching the cooler to the hard drive.

Installing the HDD cooler onto the hard drive is easy; simply install the cooler using two screws and plug in the 4-pin power connector. The cooler has slots where the screws go, allowing you to adjust the exact placement of the cooler.
