MSI RX1950XT-VT2D256E-HD Videocard

As with most newer cards they are quite big and weigh alot, this is no different, it has a nice red PCB though and a big fan/heatseink combo on the top. Actually that heatsink and fan are used by more manufacturers than just MSI. We can also see if we look close that the ram on the card is covered by small heatsinks also to be able to keep it stable even during overclocking.

Due to the big heatsink this card will take up a few PCI slots as the picture also shows, I found it nice that they have equipped the DVI connctors with plastic covers not to get them scratched or damaged during shipping, this way they stay intact and you get a perfect signal from the card to your screen.
The back of the card has a big "x" mounting piece that holds the cooler in place, it's well mounted so you don't have to worry about the weight or that the heatsink would fall off.
Testing:
Intel Extreme X6800 processor
Msi P964 Neo motherboard
Corsair Dominator 8888 DDR2 Ram
MSI RX1950XT
Zalman 400W PSU
Maxtor 80GB IDE ATA133
We used the following software to test the card, 3dmark2005, 3dmark2006. We also used the following games to benchmark with, Farcry, Battlefield 2, Call of Duty 2 and X3 Reunion demo.
Temperatures were taken with ATI´s own videocard software while in idle mode and after running loops of 3dmark. Idle temperature during testing was 22 degrees Celsius.
We are testing new graphs in this review so we are sorry if there is an inconvinience.
3dmark2005:

We decided to run the tests vs older high end cards like a XFX 7800GTX and a Sapphire X1900XTX. Later on we will have some comparisons vs newer cards also.
This test shows that the 1950XT is a bit faster well actually almost 3000 points but this is just the first test so lets check out some more heavier benches.
3dmark2005 4X Anti Aliasing:

As most of us know turning AntiAliasing on can slow down most computers and decrease the FPS rate. We turned AA on and raised the resolution a bit and as we can see there is a 2000 point drop but the MSI card is still able to perform better than any of the other cards.
3dmark2006:

3dmark2006 demands alot more from your videocard compared to the older 2005 version, we can see this on the results in this test. All the cards perform great but the MSI is still able to outperform the older high end cards.
