The Fan grill arrived in nice packaging, plenty peanuts to stop any damage. I pulled the fan grill from the box to reveal the usual sunbeam packaging, the shape is a monster head, although oddly it looks like the ‘punisher’ logo. The back of the box shows that the CC colour is blue and that the image or shape is ‘Monster Head’ it also gives information on the product. The Plastic covering easily pops open and the fan grill, inverter and molex/switch pull out. The CC in the fan grill as you probably guessed is round, it connects via a wire from each end to the inverter. The CC runs along the outside of the grill.

The switch on the power connector is mounted on a PCI blanking plate, this means it easily accessible, requires no case modification and no removing of side panels to switch it off. The inverted has holes drilled in the top in a circular fashion, this stops it from overheating. The molex has a Y-splitter so you don’t have to loose a molex connection. The fan grill doesn’t come connected up but you plug the CC into one of the duel inverters outputs and the molex and switch into the other side (input) the plugs/sockets are different sizes so you can’t confuse them and cause damage to the product.

I connected the fan grill up to a spare molex. The fan grill shines a nice bright blue, the intensity of the light seems greatest near the ends of the cold cathode, also obviously there is no light emitted from where the wire connects. This can be overlooked as the grill looks great. The plastic that the grill is made from is UV reactive, meaning that placed in the vicinity of a UV light source it will appear to emit light and glow. I tried this with my trust UV cold cathode and the fan grill reacts well to the UV light.

I suffered the same problem with the mounting kit for this fan grill as the last grill off sunbeam I reviewed. The screws proved are just a few mm short when trying to pass through the grill, 1mm of alu, 4mm of arylic and 4mm of the fan as well as having enough thread to screw the bolt on. This can be overcome.
Conclusion:
This fan grill has an impressive design, the logo looks great and the grill plastic is a good UV reactive. The fan grill unfortunately blocks some airflow, but with this design its inevitable, if you want good looks go for this grill, if you want airflow got for standard wire chrome grills.
Pros:
Looks good
Nice colour CC
Good UV reactive
Cons:
Restricts airflow
Screws are too short
Red&Blackness gives it 3 out of 5 dots
