Icemat Siberia Headset Review
Mike reviewed Icemat Siberia In:Ear a few weeks ago and he thought they were a pretty good set of earphones. I got the chance
to try out their headphones this time. The gaming market is growing so fast these days and you need a good set of headphones/earphones to be able to keep up with the advanced sounds that the new soundcards are able to push out. A microphone is essential for todays gamer also as you always talk though Ventrilo or other voice communication software. Therefore I thought we are going to test this kit with music, games and voice communication software to get a final solution of how good these are.
About Icemat:
Check out their website www.icemat.com
The original Icemat was launched in 2000, targeted at one of the most demanding consumer groups in the world: gamers. Since then Icemat has expanded the portfolio and today offers a wide range of products. Everything is created by people who demand as much from the visual design as they do from the performance of the final product. Our staff is distributed throughout the world, working from offices in Europe, North America and Asia.

The product came packed in this high quality box that makes sure to cover the product from damage during shipping. As we can see on all the small Skype logos this product is certified by Skype.
As it looks it should be excellent to use in Skype calls, hopefully it will work great on Ventrilo or Teamspeak also. On the back of the product you have instructions and features on the product.

We got a sample of their white headset but it is also available in black for them who prefer that. Inside you will find a manual, and some paper slips with different informaton on them.
The cable is quite long as you can see on the pictures, their site says that headset has a extra 1.8 meters of cable which is more than enough for gamers. The long cable makes it easier for you to move around without having the cable getting caught anywhere. As the right picture shows all the connectors are gold coated and this due to the fact that gold transfer signals alot better than any other material.
The mic has a separate volume controller which I find a bit bulky, the mic on other hand is quite nice because it's small and has a On/Off button along with a clip so you can clip the mic on to your shirt.
The headphone connector has a adapter connected to it on this picture, but you can remove it to get a standard 3.5 mm connector to use in your mp3 player or computer for example.

As I said eearlier the volume controller feels a bit to bulky for my taste, but it's a nice little piece that makes controlling the mic volume a bit better. The headset is quite comfortable on your head even after longer periods of time, they are so light weight that they dont even feel heavy after an hour. The headset is very flexible and fits most heads out there, as they adjust automaticlly when you put them on both sideways and sizewise.
Testing:
So we did some tests on these headphones. We tried several different music styles in mp3 quality. 192kpbs and 44khz were the quality on the testing songs.
In musíc I found the headphones to have a very great and clear sound, while the bass was a little bit to weak even at louder volumes. I am comparing this headphone to my Sennheiser HD555 which have excellent sound quality so therefore I might sound a bit picky about the base. All the registers push out a very nice sound which makes the music and gaming experience great. These headphones do not shut the sound out as well as others but its still able to push out great sound.
Skype certified they say! Yeah it worked great in Skype and Ventrilo also, the sound quality is as good as you are able to get with Skype or other communcation software.
Conclusion:
I am quite satisfied with this headset. For around 65$ you can get a nice headset that will work great for gaming and for any other features you feel like using them for.
The price is not to bad either, if you look at the competitors they go for the same price or more but do not offer the same comfortableness or sound quality as these do.
I don't think I have much more to add, this is a great high quality kit which only has one flaw that I have heard and that is the bass.
Pros:
+ Comfortable
+ Good sound
+ Well packed
+ Microfone clip
Cons:
- Lacking bass
