Wii Rockband: Special Edition Video Game Review
Tired of singing in the shower and want to show your true rock star talent? Games such as Guitar Hero allow you to become a musician, but none of them provide the full rock star experience as the video game Rockband. Geeks, popular online retailer, sent us the Wii version of Rockband: Special Edition to check out. Will this game rock out? That is what we’re going to answer in this review.

As with all the products I’ve received from Geeks.com, the Wii Rockband: Special Edition arrived well-packaged in a large cardboard box. Note that Geeks offers a refurbished version of this product at a very discounted price; I’ve never had any problems with the refurbished units coming from Geeks. They have strict quality control and the items often look as good as new.

Opening the package, we find a series of smaller boxes containing the instruments and the game. Everything was bubbled wrapped and securely packaged. Unlike most Wii games, Rockband: SE comes with all the accessories needed to play the game, including the drum set w/ foot pedal, guitar, microphone, a USB hub, and of course the game itself.

The included guitar is a Fender Stratocaster replica and looks very real. The guitar has two sets of frets, one down close to the body and one up the neck, each with 5 color-coded buttons. The guitar also has a D-pad and buttons that allow you to navigate the game without having to pick up a controller. One very important feature is that the guitar is wireless, which allows you to rock out without having to worry about tripping over wires. Note that only one guitar comes with the game; to play 4 players, you need to purchase another guitar separately (Geeks also offers great deals on individual guitars).
