VoIP USB Skype Call Forward Box

These days phone companies are starting to realize it's time for them to start putting some effort into providing cheap phonecalls through VOIP. The time has ended for having expensive phone lines and paying outrageous per-minute costs to call your relatives or friends. With todays software like Skype and MSN alot of people are able to connect within seconds to their relative or friend and have a free call going. To make it even easier comapanies have started to make VOIP phones and adapters so people can still move around in their house and use the VOIP service and today we are taking a look at a USB SKype call box that forwards the calls to your normal phone. How does it work? Lets check it out.

On the top of the box you can see a picture of the Skype call box itself. The back on the other hand actually gives you some instructions on how to connect the device. You plug it into the computer with the USB cable then you plug in the phone line and phone to it and you can make both VOIP and normal phone calls. The box is powered by the USB port which is really good since it saves you from a power cable. One thing they do recommend is to plug it straight into the usd port on the motherboard and not to a usb hub or similar.

Inside the box you have a phone cable, usb cable, cd with drivers and a small slip with instructions. The forwarding box itself comes in a beige color, on the front you have three leds that indicate what is going on. One shows that it's powered on and when you call with the normal landline another led switches on or if you call Voip.

The bottom of the unit is equipped with padded feet to prevent it from scratching your table. In the back you have the three important connectors. From the left we have the USB, line, and phone. Into the line plugin you connect the phone line cable and to the phone of course your wireless phone or normal phone if you prefer that.

Install the software from the cd, and you will get a small icon down by the clock in windows that is green when the phone can be used and red when something is wrong. It should automatically do these settings as the picture show in skype, if not go into options choose sound devices and choose your adapter, like I have here at home the D-link box.

Conclusion:

This is a great product, I have not had any dissconnect issues with it what so ever as I have with my Dlink device. It works like a charm and the sound quality is like on a phone, the first 3 seconds the sound is a bit messed up until it has fully established the connection. It's easy to use this device just dial ## and the quick number set in Skype and finish with * and you have done your Voip call to the person you wanted to. Don't forget to program the user in Skype you want to call to, just right click on the name, and choose "set speed dial" and set a number this way you can easily make the phonecalls. Voip will save you money there is no doubt about it and when the Voip calls have the same quality as normal phone calls there is no doubt about what you should choose! With a price of 30$ and another 20$ for the wireless phone from Walmat you got a full setup for 50$. If you call abroad alot you will have saved in this money within a month already just as an example.

Pros:

+ Cheap
+ Saves you money
+ Easy to use
+ Works good
Cons:

- Blurry sound for the first few seconds.
