Well, the box is very boring. It was actually shipped to me like this, I'm not actually sure if this is the retail box but it's boring none-the-less. White box and it says what it is, no features, no specs no nothing. But I don't think this is the retail box.

It's packaged good enough. The device itself already comes with little carrier to protect it, so there's no chance of ascthetic damage or damage to anything really.

Inside you get all you need, although an SD card would be nice. Aside from the media player itself, you get a carrying case which completely encloses the device via a magnet (magnet on a media device is a little odd). You receive headphones, regular earbud headphones you can expect to come with any mp3 player. Along with that you'll receive a fair amount of cables; first you have the wall charger, which you'll have to attach a UBS adaptor to actually charge the media player, which means you can also charge it by plugging it into your computer. A software disc to install conversion software mainly used to convert video files, AV out to SPDIF cables and an instruction manual.

The only immediate drawback to this player (without using it) is its 512mb internal drive. What can you actually store on that, a few cds maybe, and you can't even have a full length movie. But, all of this is disregarded by the fact that there is an SD slot for much more storage, but with an additional price.

While the 512mb storage won't do much these days; a few cds, a couple of video clips, plenty of text files or pictures. The fact that you can add an SD card, adds plenty more storage, and will continue to add more and cost less over the years.

On the device itself; there are 5 buttons on the front. There are buttons for up/down, buttons for forward/backward and then an 'OK' key. In the standard menu back/forward work the same, in mp3 menu only back/forward work for switching songs, up/down is for volume. The 'OK' button works for ok (yes I want this option) or play.

The buttons themselves are very flimsy, often you'll be pressing the same button twice as it didn't do anything the first try.

The power button is located in the top, as well as a few others. The A and B button play different rolls depending on what menu you're in at the time The menu button which brings you to the previous menus as well as the 'hold' switch are located on top, as are the LEDs for charging status or on status.

On the side are all of your ports. There you'll find your headphones jack, AV In/Out, USB (2.) and DC v5 plug in. On the back, is the speaker. It's a single mono speaker; nothing great but it is a speaker.

Not pictured is the SD/MMC slot, which is covered by a rubber cover, colored slightly darker than the silver toning so that it couldn't even be captured with a picture.
