Opening the package, the first thing I noticed was how big the cooler was; it was one of the largest coolers I’ve ever seen. The fan on the top is 120mm, which is large for a CPU cooler. Along with the cooler itself, the package comes with a set of accessories including adaptor brackets, a hi/lo speed selector, and some thermal compound.

Looking closely at the cooler, its design is pretty unique and frankly hard to describe. First off, the radiator and fan part of the cooler isn’t centered over the heatsink but rather is cantilevered to one side. Then, the radiator is actually 2 pieces, with 4 of the heatpipes connected to the top piece and 2 connected to the bottom piece, with no connection inbetween. Then on top of that is the 120mm fan. I’d be interested in seeing the thermal design for this cooler and hearing why the design is more efficient.

The heat sink is made of a machined copper base that interfaces with the CPU and a set of fins connected by six copper heat-pipes. The copper base appeared to be machined-smooth and free of imperfections, and it came with a protective plastic sleeve that we’ve come to expect with most coolers. There are brackets for both an Intel and AMD processor, which is nice as I like coolers to be compatible with both types of processors.
