Eksitdata HDD Vibration Absorbtion & Case Fan Anti-Vibration Rubber Pad
Today I will be looking at a ‘Hard drive vibration damper’ and a ‘Case fan anti-vibration Rubber Pad’ both from Noise Isolator. Both these products aim for a quieter computer.
About Eksitdata:
EksitData is a company in Varberg that was founded in the fall of 1997. Our clientele comprises everybody from the home user to government offices. We only operate on the internet and can therefore keep our expenses on a low level. The products on this homepage are only a selection of the most frequently sold ones. We are retailers for the leading brands in the computer section.
Specifications:
Silicon ruber with embedded steel plates
Install on standard 3.5" hard drive and fit into 5.25" drive bay.
Description : The package comes with screw set and 2 pieces (left & right) of HDD Anti-Vibration rubber bars.
Soft Silicon rubber works as a cushion that absorbs hard drive vibration.
Embedded steel plates spports the weight of hard drive.

The dampers come very well packed so well it’s a little difficult to pull them out. Once removed its easy to see the 4 screws in each block, 2 screws for holding the rubber block in the 5.25” drive bay which are removed then screwed into the rubber and 2 screws which go al the way through the block to hold the hard drive.

When used the blocks require to be fitted to a spare 5.25” bay the extra size means they cannot fit in the standard 3.5” hard drive bay. The rubber looks well made and smooth.
A possible downfall that I noticed is that there is no metal to conduct the heat from the hard drive therefore the only way for heat to be dissipated from the drive is into the surrounding air, normally some heat is dissipated into the steal/ aluminium of the case. This could be a big flaw in the product with today’s fast and hot hard drives.
The product installed without any problems, the screws screw in firmly and the hard drive fits well. In order to test the hard drive damper I put the hard drive under load. Their was a noticeable difference in the sound level, the vibrations from the drive were not transmitted into the case, but I was a little concerned about the heat issue.
Case Fan Anti-Vibration Rubber Pad

When I pulled the rubber pad from the packaging it felt very soft which is good in the aim to decrease vibrations. The rubber pad comes with 4 screws and 4 rubber washers, these are for mounting the fan the rubber pad is applied to. The rubber pad fits well to the fan, although the screws can be a little tight.

To test the fan grill I used a quite noise YS tech fan and a Delta ‘Screamer’. The later is well known for its amazing noise output. (52dBA!).
With the YS tech the difference could be heard but it was very slight, with the Delta no difference could be heard as the noise from the air is much greater then the noise from any case vibrations.
Conclusion:
Both the items on test help towards a quiet system, this is becoming more important with the ever increasing airflow required to keep computers cool. The hard drive dampers work great, but just watch out for the heat.
Pros:
+ Quiet
+ Cheap
Cons:
- Could increase heat
Red&Blackness gives it 4 out of 5 dots

Was anything left out?! - Discuss this in our forums
Thank you Eksitdata for making this review possible
