Eksit Power Inverter Review

Have you ever been in the situation where you end up in your car and run out of power in your Psp, Ipod, or laptop? Of course you have, and there is a solution to it! Eksitdata have developed a Power inverter which converts the power from the cars cigarette lighter to normal 220V (in my case). How well does it work then? That is what we are here to figure out.

About Eksitdata:

Eksitdata is a Varberg based company that was founded in 1997. Our customers varies from private customers to government departments. We sell our products exclusively on the Internet therefor we can offer low prices and administration fees. The products on our website is a selection of our products. We are retailers for the biggest computer companies.

Your questions are welcome and we will answer you as fast as possible!

Features:

Size: 14x2,5x8,5 cm.
Weight: Only 270 gram.
Colour: Silver

The case of the unit comes in a nice black and grey design. The case is quite small as it is only 14x2,5x8,5 cm. It is well packed in a nice plastic cover so you can see the inverter before buying it.

Inside the cover you will find the unit, cable and a manual. The cable goes between the cigarette lighter in the car and the unit. The manual explains how you should connect it in case you need some help.

The power cable is about half a meter long and consist of the cigarette lighter plugin and a two pin plugin that is connected into the power inverter. The cable locks on to the device to prevent accidents or mailfunction.

As you might also see there is a USB port on the side and this is to power USB units. You can for example power up a PDA or maybe a cellphone that charges through a USB port. This way the unit becomes pretty much the ultimate traveling unit.

On the top of the device a rubber button is mounted, and this is the button you turn on the device with. On the edges you also have the cable plugins and also some ventilation holes as the unit might get a bit hot if you need more juice than it actually is meant for.

On the bottom if the case you will also find ventilation holes to vent out the hot air.

This unit is very easy to handle and connect. On the right picture we have connected a PSP that is beeing charged through the power inverter. At the start of this test the battery was completely out and we were still able to play by having the power inverter connected to the cigarette lighter.

The only issue I can see with this device is that it is kind of bulky to use in a car. You have the cable and inverter to start with and then you plug in whatever device you want to use which means another cable. This works pretty good on cars with automatic transmission as they have more space between the seats but with a standard stick the cables are in the way.

Conclusion:

This device has been tested with several devices like a PSP, multimeter, etc and while tested with the multimeter we measured the voltages and they were really nice and stable. According to Eksitdata´s website this product sells for about 35$ USD which is not to bad compared to the other similar products on the market. I will personally use this power inverter when I travel so I can keep this website up-to-date. With a device like this you will never run out of power in your laptop or electric device. I never found it to get to hot or make any type of noise when I was using it during testing. Overall this is a really nice product that I will actually have great use for. The only thing I can complain about is that it might be a bit to bulky for a standard transmission car.

Pros:

+ Stable performance
+ Light weight
+ Works great!
+ Can power USB units
+ Easy to use

Cons:

- A bit bulky

Tips on usage areas:
- Handheld computers/consoles in car
- Computer in car
- Fridge in car
- Other devices that need 220V in car
