Mitronc fan controller provided by Eksitdata

I have reviewed fan controllers after fan controllers and today doesn't seem to be any different. We are going to have a look at a fan controller called Mitron. This was provided to us by Eksitdata and we are going to see how it works and how it is quality wise. It has nice features so it's going to be interesting.

About Eksitdata:

EksitData is a company in Varberg that was founded in the fall of 1997. Our clientele comprises everybody from the home user to government offices. We only operate on the internet and can therefore keep our expenses on a low level. The products on this homepage are only a selection of the most frequently sold ones. We are retailers for the leading brands in the computer section.

Specifications:

Pulse width modulation fan speed control module
12V DC input
12V DC output x 2 (3A/12V DC power)
20W per fan speed control channel
3 channels controlling up to 6 fans
FC-525PW-S: Silver Panel
FC-525PW-BK: Black Panel

Description:

Noise Isolator PWM fan controller uses one empty 5.25¡¨ bay and allows you to adjust fan speed manually in the front panel, providing the best balance between performance and noise level. The controller provides 3 separate channels and each channel (knob) can control 2 fans simultaneously. The brightness of LED back light around the fan control knob changes with the speed of the fan it controls (brighter when fan speed is faster and dimmer when slower). In addition to fan speed control, the unit is built with 2 power switches that can be used to control (on/off) 12V DC external devices such as case lights, additional fans and etc.

A nice compact plastic cover was around the fan controller with the cables. On the back of the box we find some specifications that you can find above the pictures.

Included is a power cable with some fan cables. You can get the fan controller in black or in silver. In my case I got a black one to review. It has a nice dark black finish on the fan controller. We have three fan controller knobs and two On/Off buttons. The On/Off buttons gives you the ability to connect for example two cold cathodes which you can turn on and off. The fan controller can take up to six fans.

The buttons feel a little plastic after you have used them for awhile. Personally I don't like that at all. These two pictures are just closeups. I like the On/Off buttons since you can controll other units.

The side has only 2 holes compared to other fan controllers that have 4 on each side to fit all cases. In the back everything is very compact. You can see the fan controllers etc.

This fan controller looks sweet when in action. It's hard to fit in a case because it's like 1 mm bigger than a standard 5.25 bay so you have to push it in. I could not get it to fit in my black GMC case though even after pushing. It fit in my Aopen case after some pushing though.

Conclusion:

Well this fan controller is nice but it's got a little plastic feeling over it after awhiles usage. It works great though... It supports six fans and two cold cathodes if needed. It's also available in two different colors either black or silver. The fan controller can be bought for around 25$ here in Sweden so it's not a horrible price on this fan controller either. Well you get a fan controller that add looks and also controlls your cold cathodes and fans in your computer can you ask for more? I would say a less plastic feeling but that's just me. Rbmods gives this fan controller 4 out of 5 for a cheap fan controller that has good features.

Pros:

+ Nice features
+ 2 diff colors
+ Easy to use
+ Well packed

Cons:

- Plastic feeling

Red&Blackness gives it 4 out of 5 dots
