Eksitdata Bios savior

It's time to have a look at another product from Eksitdata. They sent us something called a bios savior. It's a little gadget that can basically save your bios :) You plug this little chipser holder onto your existing bios socket and it gives you the chance to switch between the bioses. This is good in case one breaks which actually happened to me and this little gadget saved my day :) Well enough talking and lets get the show on.

About Eksitdata:

EksitData is a company in Varberg that was founded in the fall of 1997. Our clientele comprises everybody from the home user to government offices. We only operate on the internet and can therefore keep our expenses on a low level. The products on this homepage are only a selection of the most frequently sold ones. We are retailers for the leading brands in the computer section.

Specifications:

Once you backup your current BIOS data into "RD1 BIOS Savior!", even if you fail on BIOS updating several times, the system will reboot simply by shifting the switch. RD1-2M fits to 32 pin with 2 MB biosprom dip flash ROM. Not pre-programed. If you want pre-program, choise also PROGM-RD1 or PROGU-RD1. Extractor included.

The bios savior comes in this little box which has a little bit info on it about the product itself. Included in the package is:

1 Bios remover tool
1 Flash Bios Chip
Switch
Sticker
Blanker Plate for Back Of PC

On the left we have the removal tool. This is a great tool to get the chip out of the socket. On the right we have the switch that controls which bios chip you use. This is mounted on the back plate and mounted in the back of the computer for easy eacess.

Here we have the socket with the chipset installed. This works very easy since the installation is a piece of cake. You just switch over to the bios you want to flash and just flash the bios as usual. If something goes wrong you always have a backup. Eksitdata also sells Biossaviors/Bios chips that they have flashed so there is no need to worry!

Conclusion:

This is a really good solution for people that want security. This is a product that I find very easy to use and it still provides a good security when you flash your bios. You can get this product for around 28$ which is not very much at all. Everything is included in the kit to make this as easy as possible. There is only one flaw which is that the switch is placed in the computer or in the back. It would have been alot easier to have a 5.25 floppy bay cover and have it pre-mounted in that so the users could just push it on the front of the case. All in all this product gets 4 out of 5 for great security which comes to a very low price.

Pros:

+ Easy to use
+ Good documentation
+ Overall good kit
+ Low price

Cons:

- Switch should have the option to be mounted in the front of the case

Warning: Beginner users have to be careful with this product.

Red&Blackness gives it 4 out of 5 dots
