Crucial 2GB kit (1GBx2), Ballistix 240-pin DIMM, DDR2 PC2-8500 memory module
The Pc2-8500 memory kits are slowly turning into the standard kits on the market. The prices on the ram kits have dropped severely during the last 6 months, just look at this kit selling for 179$.
Today we have a new kit from Crucial on our testing table and it´s a Tracer kit named DDR2 PC2-8500. We are going to be comparing it vs other high performing 8500 kits on the market and see if this ram kit has anything specific that stands out from the crowd.
About Crucial:

The memory kits comes packed in this brown cardboard box, this is Crucials standard way of packing ram. The kits are in their own small anti-static bags. They are also separated in the box from each other to minimize the chance for them to break during shipping. Inside you will also find a small manual for the installation procedure, even though installing the ram is quite simple even for a beginner.

This Tracer kit has a orange heatsink on the sticks. Tracer kits also have black heatsinks but this specific ones have orange. On each stick you also have a sticker giving you information about the specific memory kit.

I personally like the heatsinks on the ram, they don't have any flashy leds etc, but they do have a fancy orange/silver heatsinks with the Ballistix logo. It´s time for us to go to the next page and start our testing phase.
