Crucial Ballistix Tracer PC4000 1Gb
It has been quiet from Crucials side for awhile as the other companies have pushed out high performing memory out on the market.
We got a sample though of their new Ballistix Tracer that is the follower to the popular Ballistix memory that was released awhile back.
It will be interesting to see how this new Tracer version performs compared to some Mushkin and OCZ ram that are very well known as high performers.

About Crucial:
Crucial Technology is a division of Micron Semiconductor Products, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Micron Technology, Inc. Located in Boise, Idaho, Micron manufactures dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips and assembles them into memory modules for the global computer industry. Currently, Micron is the only DRAM manufacturer in the US and one of the three largest in the world. Micron is one of the top suppliers of memory to the major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) including Compaq, Gateway, micronpc.com, HP, and IBM.
In response to growing demand for high-quality memory upgrades among end users who wanted the best possible performance from their systems, Micron launched Crucial Technology in November 1996. For the first time, end users were given the opportunity to buy direct from the manufacturer the same memory modules bought by the world's major OEMs for original installation in their systems. Crucial remains the only memory upgrade supplier selling to consumers that is part of a major DRAM manufacturer.

In this small brown box came the memory sticks, and the lid was covered by a sticker to seal and show that the product is unused.
Inside the sticks were separated and packed into anti-static bags to prevent any damage to the chips, and a manual is also included
with some specifications and features.

I like the dark grey heatsinks that have the Ballistix Tracer logo on them, on each side there is also a sticker with information
about the memory sticks. Even with the heatsinks these sticks do not take up any more space than any other brands does.

One thing special with this ram is that there are leds under the heatsinks that light up the ram very nicely, and on the top there are leds that show the work
the ram is doing by lighting up when the ram is actually working.
