Crucial DDR PC3200

Tonite is a big nite since we are having a look at some Crucial memory! They sent us a 256mb stick of PC3200. We are going to test some timings, overclocking, and benchmarking. Crucial does not recommend or does not want their memory pointed out as overclocker memory, however we are still going to try it and see what it can do for you. Stay tuned as tonite it will get hot at rbmods.

About Crucial:

Crucial Technology is a division of Micron Semiconductor Products, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Micron Technology, Inc. Located in Boise, Idaho, Micron manufactures dynamic random access memory (DRAM) chips and assembles them into memory modules for the global computer industry. Currently, Micron is the only DRAM manufacturer in the US and one of the three largest in the world. Micron is one of the top suppliers of memory to the major original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) including Compaq, Gateway, micronpc.com, HP, and IBM. In response to growing demand for high-quality memory upgrades among end users who wanted the best possible performance from their systems, Micron launched Crucial Technology in November 1996. For the first time, end users were given the opportunity to buy direct from the manufacturer the same memory modules bought by the world's major OEMs for original installation in their systems. Crucial remains the only memory upgrade supplier selling to consumers that is part of a major DRAM manufacturer.

Specifications on the memory:

This memory did not come in a fancy package as the Corsair one but it's not the package that performs anyway. This was well packed in the box so the memory could not move around. On top there was a picture and some info about the memory.

Inside we found the memory in a anti static bag and a little flyer with some info. The memory comes without heatspreaders since they don't count their memory as an overclocker memory. So basically you don't need heatspreaders since you don't overclock it! :P Well we are going to try it anyways.

400mhz with CL3 hmm maybe cas 2.5 might work :) Well we are going to see later in the review. The standard timings are 3-3-3-8.

Testing was done on the following rig:

AMD XP 2200+
Leadtek K7NcR18D Nforce 2
256mb 3200 Crucial DDR
60 GXP IBM 60 gig harddrive
Geforce 4 MX
Artic Silver 3
Liteon 16x cd burner
GMC Neo classic case

We have done the benchmarking with Aida32,Pcmark2002 and Sisoft Sandra 2003. Overclocking tests were done in different timings and stability test was done with Sisoft Sandra 2003 burn in program.
